PD-L1 antibody recognizes programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) protein, also known as B7 homolog 1 (B7-H1) and cluster of differentiation 274 (CD274) protein. PD-L1 is found on various cancer cells and transduces immunosuppressive signals by binding to the programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) on effector T cells, thereby diminishing immune system attacks on malignant cells. Blocking the interaction between PD-L1 and PD-1 with PD-L1 antibodies is generating great clinical interest as a mode of immunotherapy against a number of cancers.

Tight junctions represent one mode of cell-to-cell adhesion in epithelial or endothelial cell sheets, forming continuous seals around cells and serving as a physical barrier to prevent solutes and water from passing freely through the paracellular space. These junctions are comprised of sets of continuous networking strands in the outwardly facing cytoplasmic leaflet, with complementary grooves in the inwardly facing extracytoplasmic leaflet. The protein encoded by this gene, a member of the claudin family, is an integral membrane protein and a component of tight junction strands. Loss of function mutations result in neonatal ichthyosis-sclerosing cholangitis syndrome.

HSP90 proteins normally associate with other cochaperones and play important roles in folding newly synthesized proteins or stabilizing and refolding denatured proteins after stress. TET3 antibody recognizes TET3 protein (predicted molecular weight of 194 kDa), a dioxygenase involved in active DNA demethylation that converts 5-methylcytosine (5mC) to 5-hydroxymethylcytosine (5hmC) and subsequently to 5-formylcytosine (5fC) and 5-carboxylcytosine (5caC). Like TET1 and TET2, TET3 appears to impact epigenetic regulation of gene expression. It is also involved in early embryogenesis, neuronal function, and other processes.

SOD2 (superoxide dismutase 2, mitochondrial) is a member of the iron/manganese superoxide dismutase family. It encodes a mitochondrial protein that forms a homotetramer and binds one manganese ion per subunit. This protein binds to the superoxide byproducts of oxidative phosphorylation and converts them to hydrogen peroxide and diatomic oxygen. Mutations in SOD2 have been associated with idiopathic cardiomyopathy (IDC), premature aging, sporadic motor neuron disease, and cancer. Alternative splicing of SOD2 results in multiple transcript variants. A related pseudogene has been identified on chromosome 1.
